David C. Everett  - Crown Court Advocate

  • Qualified as a solicitor in 1982
  • Worked both as a prosecutor and a defence advocate in South Wales, West Midlands, Shropshire, Staffordshire, Warwickshire and Northamptonshire .A very senior Crown Prosecutor in Warwickshire before joining this firm

Susan Coverdale nee Moore - Accredited Police Station Representative - Currently on Maternity Leave 

Susan MooreSusan has a BA Combined Hons (Law, Psychology and Art) degree from Newcastle University and Qualified as an Accredited Police Station Representative in 2007 from University of Cardiff Law School.
Susan has day to day experience of representing a wide range of people at the police station including youths, the mentally vulnerable and adults. She has acted for clients accused of Murder, Rape, Fraud, Misconduct in a Public Office and numerous driving offences.
She has also defended at the police station numerous professionals who were subject to police investigations including; Company Directors accused of Fraud and Financial Mismanagement, an individual being investigated by Ministry of Defence Police for Fraud, and Public Sector Workers accused of assault.

Colin Charvill - Crown Court Advocate and duty solicitor

  • Successfully representing a defendant at the Court of Appeal against a sentence imposed at Warwick Crown Court in relation to breach of a protective order resulting in the sentence being reduced.
  • Successfully representing a client whose case was forwarded to the Court of Appeal which resulted in his indeterminate sentence being overturned.
  • Successfully representing a young man charged with resisting a Police Constable in execution of his duty when the prosecution witnesses were Police Officers.
  • Successfully representing an ex paratrooper charged with the possession of prohibitive weapons and persuading the Judge to deal with the matter by way of a non-custodial sentence
  • Successfully representing a man charged with section 20 wounding with a blade and persuading the Judge to deal with the matter by way of a non-custodial sentence.

Stuart Jeffery – Associate Solicitor

  • Qualified as a solicitor in February 1993
  • Joined Stephen Moore & Co on 01 August 2012

Stuart joined the court service in 1989 working as court clerk for 8 years before moving into private practice in 1997. He joined Carter Slater in 1998 becoming a partner in 2004.

    1998 Represented a suspect arrested for murder. He was not prosecuted.
    2001 Represented two clients charged with murder following an incident at a local nightclub. Both were acquitted of murder and convicted of affray.
    2003 Represented a client involved in a large scale drug importation investigation.
    2004 – 2007 Represented a client arrested and charged under the Official Secrets Act. The case attracted national coverage and resulted in a four week trial at The Old Bailey.

Will Heyward - Associate Solicitor and Higher Court Advocate

“The youngest and best looking member of the team…”

Will has 5 years experience as an advocate, the majority of which he has obtained in the custody suites and courts of Northamptonshire. He has supplemented his knowledge of criminal proceedings by spending two years with the Army Legal Service providing legal advice and guidance in relation to Army disciplinary matters. He is a well known face around the courts of Northamptonshire and has exercised his Higher Rights of Audience in various Crown Courts across the East Midlands and even the Royal Courts of Justice in London. We welcome him to our team.

Ben Brown - Associate Solicitor

  • Qualified as a solicitor on 15th May 2003

Ben is based in our Northampton office and specialises in police station and Magistrates’ Court representation. Having worked in all major legal disciplines he has been practising in Northamptonshire for 14 years. He joined Stephen Moore & Co in 2017. In his spare time he enjoys flying vintage aeroplanes and driving classic vehicles – in fact if it is old and has an engine he will probably be tinkering with it!

Lindsey Saunders - Accredited Police Station Representative

  • Qualified as a Police Station Representative in 2008.

Attends Police Stations at all hours in all local areas.

Lindsey has extensive experience of representing a wide range of people at the Police Station including youths, the mentally vulnerable and adults. Lindsey has acted for clients accused of murder, rape, fraud and all other criminal matters.

Lindsey joined Stephen Moore & Co in September 2017.

Prior to that Lindsey worked within the Magistrates Courts as a legal secretary which resulted in her interest in criminal work and in particular Police Station representation.

Jess Vogel – Associate Solicitor

Friendly, approachable and hardworking Jess qualified in February 2006 and worked in Nottingham for many years before joining us, gaining her duty solicitor qualification along the way.

 

    Significant cases include;
  • On 2 occasions discovering new evidence in relation to 2 separate murder convictions and through the CCRC bringing those matters to the Court of Appeal.
  • Client accused of committing a terrorist act
  • Multiple defendants in a gang rape. The interviews alone lasted around 3 weeks. Due to thorough defence investigation of phone records which had not been disclosed, all bar one had no evidence offered against them
