Summary Only Motoring Cases

We are able to help you apply for Legal Aid in motoring cases before the Magistrates Court, but in some motoring cases which can only be dealt with before the Magistrates Court it is unlikely Legal Aid will be granted.

This includes cases such as:

  • Driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence
  • Having No Insurance
  • Failing to Stop/Failing to Report a road traffic accident
  • Driving with Excess Alcohol
  • Having No MOT
  • Driving without Due Care and Attention

Our private costs for such work is £150 per hour plus vat.

All appointments at our respective offices will be charged at our hourly rates.

In some cases we may be able to agree, after discussions and assessment of the case, a fixed fee for our costs.

This will be on the basis that a guilty plea is being tendered, that the matter will be dealt with in a single hearing at Court and the Court is located within 30 miles of our nearst office.

Our fixed fee for such a case is £350 plus vat for Northampton matters and £420 plus vat for Warwickshire matters.

If the case for some reason requires a second hearing, i.e. if the case is adjourned for sentence then our private hourly rates of £150 per hour for all additional work required will apply.

If you wish to see if we can agree a fixed fee for your case please ask.
